Itens ExtrasOne of the new features in 2022 is the Elite category riding solo, both for men and women.
October 2022 – The world's most important mountain bike premium stage race is back in southern Bahia. After a year, Santander Brasil Ride Bahia arrives with news. And there are lots of news in this 12th edition, which takes place in the stunning village of Arraial d'Ajuda, bathed by warm and crystalline waters, and the mountains of Guaratinga, which will see the competitors riding full power, in one of the fiercest disputes in the sport.
In the elite category, the 2021 champion Hans Becking (NLD) and other stars of the sport, such as the world champions Tiago Ferreira (POR), Andreas Seewald (GER) the best Brazilians of last year's competition Gustavo Xavier, Alex Malacarne, Edson Rezende, Sherman Trezza, will race along with two-time champion Henrique Avancini, on his return for the 2022 season, which will have the solo dispute as the most important change.
The champions of the 11th edition Naima Diesner (GER) and Anna Jördens (GER), come to try to win the championship, racing in the new solo category. Besides them, the Brazilians Marcella Toldi and Paula Gallan are the big promises to dispute the new title of this edition of Brasil Ride.
October 22nd is the day for butterflies in the stomach. At the Santander Brasil Ride Bahia Arena, competitors will pick up their kits that will accompany them to the end of the journey, which starts at 1:00 pm on the 23rd and continues until the 29th, when they cross the finish line.
Stages – The race has 7 stages between Arraial d'Ajuda and Guaratinga. In Porto Seguro, the competition starts and end at Arena Santander Brasil Ride Bahia, at the Parracho Beach's Uíki Lounge. In Guaratinga, the competition has its base, start and finish lines at Vila Santander Brasil Ride Bahia.
The first stage is raced within Arraial, while the second and fifth stages are marked by the trip between the two competition venues. The third and fourth stages will take place around Vila Santander Brasil Ride, in Guaratinga, while the sixth and seventh stages will take place in the village, district of Porto Seguro.
On the last day of competition, in addition to the definition of the champion, almost 2,000 amateur competitors take a chance on the Discovery Marathon, in a quick race between Arraial and Trancoso, marking the end of the event. It's a sea of people of all ages, with a single objective: cycling. At that moment, adrenaline, energy and cheering are the main fuels.
Structure – In addition to the structure set up on the Uíki to receive cyclists and visitors during the race days, every year, Brasil Ride sets up a real city in Guaratinga. And the numbers are surprising. On a farm 14 kilometers from the city center, the approximately 10 hectares house 80 tons of equipment, with the capacity to receive about 1,200 people and serve 5,400 high standard meals. The structure offers two types of tents, with mattress and sheets, so that cyclists have a good rest and recover for the next stage. But before that, a break for a good and well-deserved hot shower for those who spent a whole day on the saddle.
And it doesn't stop there. The organization also provides water, soda, energy and sports drinks, fruit and carbohydrates at assistance and dispersion points. In addition, remote-area rescue team with an ICU base truck, 4WD ICU ambulances, motorcycles with paramedics on the route and a medical post in the arenas are equipped to respond to any emergenciy.
Gathering – According to Mario Roma, founder of the Brasil RIde, Santander Brasil Ride Bahia is the gathering of the best cyclists in the world with some of the main global brands in their segments.
“This gives us the certainty that we will have, once again, an event of the highest level. This is why Santander Brasil Ride Bahia is seen as the Giro d'Italia of the MTB world. There will be seven days of emotion on the trails, with the participation of Brazilian athletes from all states of Brazil and other 19 countries represented. As always, the cycling lovers are the ones who enjoy the most", he points out, revealing that cycling lovers can still sign up for the Discovery Marathon, which takes place on the 29th, and ride along with great names of the MTB World.
Beyond competition, Brasil Ride is also a place to feel like family, to see friends, to enjoy the breeze and a good swim in the ocean to recharge your energies. It is a place to share joy, concerns, love, and silence. It's where everyone share one goal: to complete a stage in their life.
