Where is the center of the MTB world for the next week? Try Brasil Ride and Brazil’s Discovery Route

Elite bikers get to the Bahia State coast for the biggest MTB ultramarathon of the Americas, from October’s 15 to 22

Porto Seguro, Brazil - Brazil’s most waited MTB race is back. Brasil Ride’s 7th edition is scheduled for October 15 to 22 with new emotions. After six years in Chapada Diamantina, the biggest MTB ultramarathon of the Americas keeps growing and is now opening the Discovery Route in Southern Bahia. Porto Seguro (in the district of Arraial d'Ajuda) will receive one of the race villages. The other one will be on Fazenda Conjunto Boa Vista, in the city of Guaratinga. 500 bikers from 23 countries will compete in the week long race. The opening event (Saturday October 22) is the XCM Brasil Ride Marathon, with 1.000 more bikers getting the taste of the competition.

Brasil Ride will have, once again, seven stages. The prolog is scheduled for Sunday (16) and the last stage will happen in the next Saturday (22). Cyclists will face 538,8 km in total, with accumulated altimetry of 10.773 meters from seashores to mountains. The race will pass through the cities of Arraial d'Ajuda, Eunápolis, Itabela and Guaratinga, in the São João do Sul region.

Favorites - Brasil Ride’s 7th edition will keep up with the high level of previous years. Current champions Hans Becking (HOL) and Jiri Novak (CZE) are back and will have to deal with the competition of MTB Marathon world champions Tiago Ferreira (POR) and Roel Paulissen (BEL). Other favorites are Hugo Prado (BRA)/Lukas Kaufmann (SUI), Samuel Porro (ITA)/Alexey Medvedev (RUS), Luis Leão Pinto (BRA)/Soren Nissen (DEN) and Halysson Ferreira (BRA)/Robson Ferreira (BRA). The duos from Team Trek San Marco, Samuel Porro (ITA)/Alexey Medvedev (RUS), and Damiano Ferraro (ITA)/Fabian Rabensteiner (ITA), are also mentioned as possible surprises in the race for victory. All top athletes are already in Arraial d'Ajuda for the 2016 edition.

The Ladies category will have the Brazilian duo Isabella Lacerda and Letícia Cândido arriving as favorites. Former champions Celina Santos Carpinteiro (POR) and Ivonne Kraft (GER) will also ride for the top. Athletes, staff, volunteers and members of the organization will be accommodated in a real city set up to 800 people especially for the competition.

Infrastructure numbers of competition in the two host cities impress. Will be 10,000 liters of water distributed in seven stages, 6,300 fruit units, 5,500 meals served, 60 tents, including two with 500m2, 700 _ sleeping tents, 16,000 meters of bump tape and 47 vehicles traveling the routes of the race between cars, motorcycles , quads, ambulances and truck.
