Brasil Ride: Hugo Prado Neto and Lukas Kaufmann (CHE) beat the favorites in the prologue

In the ladies category, Raiza Goulão and Viviane Favery complete the 20 kilometers course in first place

Mucugê, Bahia - Brazil
- The crowd at Brasil Ride Village in Mucugê followed on Sunday afternoon the opening of the main MTB ultramarathon of the Americas sixth edition. With 500 cyclists from 23 countries, it was held the prologue: 20 km on a route composed of sand, stones, rivers and asphalt. While in open category Brazilian Hugo Prado Neto and Swiss Lukas Kaufmann began surprising the favorites, in ladies Brazilians Raiza Goulão and Viviane Favery were the best of the day.

In the open, the competition was fierce. Only seven seconds separated Hugo and Lukas from the 2014 champions, Dutchman Hans Becking and Czech Jiri Novak. Sherman Trezza and Frederico Mariano secured the third place of the day, with a second behind Hans and Jiri.

Three main Brazilian candidates for a place in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Raiza Goulão, Isabella Lacerda and Erika Gramiscelli finished in the first three places, respectively. Raiza and Viviane opened 56 seconds from the second place, formed by Isabella and Nina Baum, north american that is current champion in the category. Erika and her partner, Leticia Candido, closed the prologue with a bigger distance to the rivals, six minutes after Isabella and Nina.
