With live broadcast, 10th edition of Brasil Ride draws the attention the extreme south of Bahia

The tenth edition of the main MTB ultramarathon of the Americas starts next Sunday (20) with the Prologue (stage 1) in Arraial d’Ajuda, Porto Seguro (BA). Starting at 1 p.m., mountain bikers from 23 countries will start the race, which runs until Saturday (26), with stages in Guaratinga, where where the Vila Brasil Ride is set up – a true town built by the organization, with all the necessary structure where the athletes camp for three nights. In seven stages, riders will cover approximately 600 km and 11,000 meters of accumulated climb before the 2019 champions are crowned.

Last Thursday (17) the favorites to the titles of the various categories started to arrive in the
district of Porto Seguro. In the men’s elite dispute, at least seven teams will fight for the win: Henrique Avancini and Manuel Fumic from Cannondale Factory Racing, defending the position of current champions of the event; Jaroslav Kulhavy and fellow countryman Matous Ulman, heavyweight rookies from Specialized Racing; Tiago Ferreira and Hans Becking, both champions in previous editions, forming the DMT Racing Team; Kristian Hynek, two-time champion in 2010/2011, alongside fellow Czech Martin Stosek, seventh in the 2019 Marathon World Championship; Brasil Ride champion in 2016, Alexey Medvedev with Brazilian Hugo Prado Neto; CST Sand American Eagle MTB Racing Team duo Sebastian Fini and Julian Schelb (GER); and from South America, the current champions of La Leyenda del Dorado, Colombians Johan and Johnatan Cañaveral.

The intermediate peloton counts with renowned mountain bikers from Brazil, who will fight for a place on the stage podiums, as well as for the Leaders of the Americas jersey. The riders are: Bruno Lemes and Kennedi Sampaio from Squadra Oggi; Sherman Trezza and Guilherme Muller, from Cannondale Brasil Racing; the Swiss born and now Brazilian citizen Lukas Kaufmann with his partner Konny Looser (SUI) from FKS Factory Racing; Halysson Ferreira and Nicolas Machado from Tropix Factory Racing Team; Daniel Zoia and José Gabriel Almeida, from Corinthians Audax Bike Team; Ricardo Pscheidt and Leandro Donizete, from Groove / Orbea Team Brasil; Edson Rezende and Nicolas Sessler from Caloi Avancini Team.

Among women, the dispute will also be thrilling. The three-time Brazilian champion in 2019,
Leticia Cândido, alongside Hercilia Najara; the two-times Brasil Ride winner Raiza Goulão with the Colombian rider Angelita Parra; and Venezuelans Katherine Lindo and Florangela Rodriguez. The young revelation of the national MTB, Karen Olimpio, partnered with the experienced Portuguese Ilda Pereira; and Viviane Favery, with Tânia Clair Pickler, are also among the favorites on the podium. The number one Brazilian lady in the Olympic ranking, Jaqueline Mourão has confirmed her last minute participation and will compete with Danilas Ferreira.

Athletes are received at the airport - Those who arrived last Thursday at Porto Seguro Airport, had quite a reception. It was the case of foreign stars such as Jaroslav Kulhavy, Matous Ulman, Manuel Fumic, Hans Becking, and others, who were kind enough to pose for photos. Live Broadcast Schedule - The Brasil Ride live programming schedule is already defined, an event that pioneered this kind of transmission – with the details of the race – starting in 2016.

About Brasil Ride - Considered the Giro d'Italia of Mountain Biking, the ultramarathon scheduled for October 20-26 offers a strong challenge for 570 participating athletes from 24 countries. For seven days, they will face about 600 km and almost 11,000 m of accumulated altitude, between trails and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Brasil Ride Village, built annually in Guaratinga. On the last day of the competition, Saturday (26), more than 1,500 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of the international mountain bike, for the Marathon of the Discoveries race.
