Brasil Ride 2018 confirms 540 athletes from more than 20 countries in October

Ninth edition of the competition will take place between October 21 and 27, in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro, and Guaratinga

Place your bets! Brasil Ride 2018 is sold out, and opened 40 additional slots, completing the start list with 540 athletes from different categories in the 9th edition of the event, between October 21 and 27, in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro, and Guaratinga, Bahia, Brazil. The largest mountain biking event in the American continent will receive athletes from 22 countries, and is one of the most difficult MTB XCS in the world.

Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) and Howard Grotts (USA) - Specialized Racing, David Nordemann (NED) and Grant Ferguson (GBR) - CST Sandd American Eagle MTB Racing Team, Tiago Ferreira (POR) and Hans Becking (NED) - DMT Racing Team, Roel Paulissen (BEL) and Hugo Prado Neto (BRA) - OCE/Cannondale, the revelation of the year, the boy from Brazil Henrique Avancini (BRA) and his partner Manuel Fumic (GER) - Cannondale Factory Racing XC, Alberto Losada (ESP) and Ibon Zugasti (ESP) - Orbea Factory Team, among other top contenders are confirmed in the Open category.

In the Ladies category, Raiza Goulão (BRA) and Margot Moschetti (FRA) - PMRA Racing Team/CST Sandd American Eagle MTB Racing Team defending last year’s title, against teams as Jaqueline Mourão (BRA) and Cindy Montambault (CAN) - Jacky&Cindy, Hannah Finchamp  (USA) and Kaysee Armstrong (USA) - USA Adventure Girls, Marianne Bergli (NOR) and Stacey Hyslop (ZIM) - Ciovita, Ilda Pereira (POR) and Pilar Nuñez (ESP) - Casa Myze Team and others.

“This year, Brasil Ride will offer the highest level of competition in the event’s history. In the men’s category, we have about ten favorite teams, so it is impossible to guess who the winners will be. In the women’s field, we have the biggest squad ever, reaching by far our record of women participants: 45 athletes in 2017, to more than 60 this year. We are looking forward to Brasil Ride 2018. We hope that all riders will have a memorable experience in their lives and that our motto will be confirmed for them: More than a race, a stage in your life," says Mario Roma, founder of Brasil Ride.

Starting line with two olympic champions, seven world titles, five european titles. Riders from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, USA, Venezuela and Zimbabwe are confirmed for the dispute of the ninth edition of Brasil Ride, in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro, and Guaratinga, both cities in the extreme south of Bahia, Brazil.

The event - Considered the Giro d'Italia of the world MTB, the ultramarathon scheduled for 21-27 October in Bahia offers a challenge for the 540 participating athletes from all over the world. For seven days, the participants will ride for 600 km and endure almost 11,000 m of accumulated altimetry, between tracks and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Brasil Ride Village, built annually in Guaratinga. On the last day of the competition, on Saturday (27), another 1,200 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of the international mountain bike race for the Marathon of the Discoveries. A unique opportunity to ride side by side with the bestmountain bikers in the world.

The ninth edition of Brasil Ride has Specialized, Shimano, Caixa and Unidas as sponsors. Government of Bahia, through the SUDESB (Superintendence of Sports of the State of Bahia) and Bahiatursa (Superintendence of Tourism Promotion of the State of Bahia), also sponsor the ultramarathon, while the Municipalities of Porto Seguro and Guaratinga are among the supporters.
